Dark Side of the Bog

I have always loved working with my hands, and I delight in the creation of things that inspire, wow and (amaze) I chose to work with Bog Oak as something that once stood so tall and strong over our countryside, the low oxygen atmosphere of the peat preserved the wood for thousands of years, to me this work captures the essence of our culture in a new way and connects us with the landscape. I like to combine the bog oak with new materials to give it a modern twist and make it as attractive and striking as it should be. Oak is naturally connected to health, protection and strength and as such all these characteristics shine through in the finished product. I really hope you enjoy this piece.

"The Dark Side of the Bog" or “Taobh Dorcha an Bportach” picture frames, my own nod to Pink Floyd, they are handmade(by me!) in Mullingar with ancient bog oak, from trees that grew in the middle of Ireland around 5000 years ago and finished with pure tung oil to enhance the darkness of the wood.

Each one is unique! you can choose either a black or white frame and also you can contact me if you would like to choose a different background colour.
